Raising the index finger during the Tashahhud (At-Taḥiyyāt)

What is the ruling of raising fingers during Attahiyat ?

الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب

Wa `Alaykum al-Salām wa Raḥmah Allāh wa Barakātuh,

It is sunnah to raise the index finger of the right hand during the Shahadah in Tashahhud (al-Taḥīyāt). Ṣadr al-Sharī`ah `Allāmah 'Amjad `Alī 'A`ẓamī states within the list of the sunnahs of ṣalāh,

شہادت پر اشارہ کرنا

“To gesture at the point of proclaiming the Shahādah,” and Allāh knows best.
